Art. 52 of the Consumer Code gives fourteen days to withdraw without reasons; for goods the clock starts when you physically receive them, and with several items from the last one. If the trader did not inform you of the right, the period is extended by twelve months (art. 53). Return postage is yours by default, but not if the trader failed to say so.

After 24 months you may leave a telecoms contract at any time with at most one month's notice and no penalty; before that, exit costs are capped and must be published in advance. You cannot sue an operator without first attempting conciliation on ConciliaWeb. In energy the regulated tariff is gone, but a vulnerable customer (75+, social bonus, disability under Law 104, medical equipment) can return to it at any time — for a low-income household this is the biggest money in the section.

Practical route
The seller is liable for non-conformity for two years from delivery, with a 26-month limitation period (art. 133). During the first year a presumption applies: the defect is taken to have existed from the start and the seller must prove otherwise (art. 135). The old duty to notify within 60 days is gone, abolished by Legislative Decree 170/2021.
