Understand this route
After 24 months you may leave a telecoms contract at any time with at most one month's notice and no penalty; before that, exit costs are capped and must be published in advance. You cannot sue an operator without first attempting conciliation on ConciliaWeb. In energy the regulated tariff is gone, but a vulnerable customer (75+, social bonus, disability under Law 104, medical equipment) can return to it at any time — for a low-income household this is the biggest money in the section.
What to check
- How long your telecoms contract has run: after 24 months you can leave without penalty.
- Before suing an operator: a conciliation attempt on ConciliaWeb.
- Whether you are a vulnerable energy customer: 75+, social bonus, Law 104, medical equipment.
- A return to regulated terms must be requested: it does not happen automatically.
Caveat
Two different dates. At EU level temporary protection runs to 4 March 2028 (Council Decision (EU) 2026/1912). Italian instruments, as at 26 September 2026, are still tied to 4 March 2027, and we found no Italian implementing act for 2028. Check your questura and the Ministry of the Interior before acting.
