Sources

Published factual claims in DryRights are linked to recorded sources such as legislation, official guidance, professional publications or other reviewed materials. This section shows where information comes from, its review status and the recorded basis on which DryRights links to or uses it.

Public access to material does not automatically permit copying. Each DryRights source record shows the recorded terms-of-use review status or states that the review is not yet complete. Linking to an official source does not mean that protected text has been reproduced.

How the source system works

  1. Find the primary source. Every material is first located at its official or authoring source, not retold from another site.
  2. Review the terms of use. Before anything is collected, translated, or shown, the editorial team reviews the source's terms of use and records the outcome.
  3. Record the version. Where versioning is enabled, retrieved versions are stored with a retrieval date and checksum so that changes at the source can be traced. Records without version history are labelled accordingly.
  4. Show the connections. Where structured connections are available, a source page shows where the material is used within DryRights. Incomplete connections and records still in preparation are identified through their coverage status.

Rights transparency

Each source record states the recorded basis for linking to, quoting or reusing the material. This may be an open licence, statutory permission, the source's published terms, direct permission, or link-only use without reproducing protected text. If the basis is still under review, the record is labelled accordingly. Confidential permission evidence is not published; only a non-sensitive status summary is shown.
