Understand this route
The Ukraine-specific derogation for health professions expired on 31 December 2025. The live route is art. 13 of Decree-Law 18/2020, in force to 31 December 2027, allowing temporary practice of health professions. For unregulated occupations no recognition is needed at all: a CIMEA comparability statement is enough.
What to check
- Whether your profession is regulated in Italy.
- For health professions: the art. 13 D.L. 18/2020 route and its 31.12.2027 deadline.
- For unregulated jobs: a CIMEA comparability statement; full recognition is not needed.
- Original diplomas and transcripts: you will need them either way.
Caveat
Two different dates. At EU level temporary protection runs to 4 March 2028 (Council Decision (EU) 2026/1912). Italian instruments, as at 26 September 2026, are still tied to 4 March 2027, and we found no Italian implementing act for 2028. Check your questura and the Ministry of the Interior before acting.
