Entering an Italian university and DSU student support

Admission runs through the foreign-qualification route, where CIMEA documents often replace the consular declaration of value. Separately from fees there is the right to student support: regional grants, housing and fee waivers based on ISEE, and that is what decides whether study is affordable.

Recognition of a Ukrainian diploma: CIMEA and the limits of the free route

For most purposes a CIMEA comparability statement is enough: it is not full recognition, but employers and universities accept it. Note that the free CIMEA for Refugees route expressly excludes temporary protection, so budget for the paid procedure.

School for your child: enrolment at any point in the year

Education is compulsory from 6 to 16 and does not depend on holding a permit: art. 45 of Presidential Decree 394/1999 allows enrolment at any point in the school year. Class placement follows age, not Italian proficiency, and the school must arrange language support.
