What to check
- Ask for a written draft and check the employer's identity, gross pay, hours, place of work, probation, accommodation deductions and notice terms.
- Unexplained deductions, refusal to provide a contract, or pressure to start before the terms are explained are reasons to pause and verify the offer.
- If a necessary fact is unknown, use the verification route rather than assuming that you qualify.
