What to check
- An increase in rent or other charges must be made in writing. The ordinary notice period is three months unless the agreement gives a longer period.
- Request written grounds and calculation; for certain increases the owner must provide them within 14 days of a written request.
- If a necessary fact is unknown, use the verification route rather than treating the condition as confirmed.
