Understand this route
Preschool from 3 to 6 is effectively available to everyone; nursery under 3 is scarce, paid and allocated by ISEE ranking. The INPS nursery bonus reimburses part of the fee, again on ISEE, and must be applied for early because the budget is capped.
What to check
- Age: under 3 — nursery, 3 to 6 — preschool.
- Your comune's application deadlines.
- An ISEE: your place in the queue and the fee depend on it.
- The INPS nursery bonus: apply early, the budget is capped.
Caveat
Two different dates. At EU level temporary protection runs to 4 March 2028 (Council Decision (EU) 2026/1912). Italian instruments, as at 26 September 2026, are still tied to 4 March 2027, and we found no Italian implementing act for 2028. Check your questura and the Ministry of the Interior before acting.
